The Iron Wood Thrower Development Camp offers 'world-class'
instruction in the four throwing events of Track and Field: Discus,
Hammer, Javelin, and Shot Put.

We’ve proudly hosted Olympic champions, world record holders, nutritionists, training experts, sports psychologists, and academic advisors as keynote speakers. Our evening lecture series feature a comprehensive overview of the technical, physical, mental and tactical skills necessary for advancing your performance level. Additional special topics ranging from academic preparation, sport nutrition, and the college recruiting process are also traditionally covered.

We will stage the popular “Iron Wood Games” as part of our extracurricular activity schedule. This event has become a popular activity at the camp and everyone looks forward to it each year. Campers will have access to the lake for swimming and volleyball under staff supervision at designated times. SWIM AT YOUR OWN RISK FOR ALL CAMPERS!!!. STAFF WILL ONLY BE PRESENT AT DESIGNATED TIMES!!

A certified athletic trainer will be on duty at all sessions.

Our sponsors present the “Iron Wood Award” for one male and one female athlete from each event at the conclusion of the camp. Several items from our camp store will also be randomly distributed as prizes throughout the week.
--David Dumble, throws coach at Arizona State University
"The Iron Wood Throws Camp is a unique experience when it comes to throwing camps. It is a great experience for all levels and ages of throwers. The campers are subjected to immense amounts of knowledge and experience in all areas of the throws. Campers are immersed not only into the technical and training side of throwing, but they also learn the culture and attitude of successful throwers. It is a rare opportunity to ask questions of and to learn from past Olympians and top level coaches, like those at Iron Wood. In my twenty years of being a thrower and coach, I even learned some new drills and ideas when I attended the camp. I look forward to being there again."
