--Aretha Hill Thurmond, USA Olympian 1996, 2004, 2008, 2012
"Iron Wood made throwing fun for me. At my first camp, I didn't know much about any of the throws and I left with an appreciation for all of the throws. My high school coach, Keith Eager and I learned something new every year we attended the camp. One of my best memories of Iron Wood is that of the Goal Stick. I kept it all through college. A lot of the things I learned at the camp I am still using today."

--Casey Malone, 6th place at the 2004 Olympics
"Iron Wood was my introduction to what elite level throwing was all about. Until attending Iron Wood, I thought throwing was a fun challenge that could occupy my time in between basketball and football seasons. The camp planted the seed of an Olympic dream in me and encouraged me to have an identity shift from a basketball player throwing for fun to a discus thrower playing basketball for fun. It was truly a life changing moment for me when Mac Wilkins arrived at the camp and passed around his gold medal. Holding that medal had a tremendous effect on me. This was truly the first time I had met people who had dedicated their life and passion to the sport of throwing. I was fortunate to be steered in the right direction very early in my throwing career by the outstanding coaches and Olympians at Iron Wood. Bud and Bart are two of the most genuine coaches and people that I know. Their total agenda is to assist young throwers, and they have developed an environment at Iron Wood that is second to none and improving every year. I thank them for creating a phenomenal experience for me and thousands of young throwers. When asked if I know of a good throwing camp, I always start to answer "Iron Wood" before the question is finished".

--Ramona Pagel, American record shot putter at 66’ 2.5” Olympic qualifier in ’84, ’88, ’92 and ’96
"Iron Wood Throwing Camp is one of the few track and field camps in the nation that is dedicated to just throwing. The atmosphere at the camp for young throwers is electric and highly motivating. After working the camp, I get calls and emails for months from athletes and coaches alike that are still psyched up about their experience that they had at the camp. For me, the opportunity to talk to the legends of our events is exciting and something that I can bring back to my athletes to help keep them motivated. See you at Iron Wood!!"

--David Dumble, throws coach at Arizona State University
"The Iron Wood Throws Camp is a unique experience when it comes to throwing camps. It is a great experience for all levels and ages of throwers. The campers are subjected to immense amounts of knowledge and experience in all areas of the throws. Campers are immersed not only into the technical and training side of throwing, but they also learn the culture and attitude of successful throwers. It is a rare opportunity to ask questions of and to learn from past Olympians and top level coaches, like those at Iron Wood. In my twenty years of being a thrower and coach, I even learned some new drills and ideas when I attended the camp. I look forward to being there again."

--Jill Camarena, USA Olympian 2008, 2012
"Iron Wood Thrower’s Camp has changed my life. I first went to Iron Wood as a 9th grader who was a softball player at heart. My experience at Iron Wood with both the staff and the other athletes was unlike any other sport. Because of the passion and desire I saw in those around me, Iron Wood helped me not only enjoy throwing more, but helped me fall in love with the sport of track and field. The friends and coaches I have met at the camp have continued from the time I was a young camper, through high school, college and even now as I return as a counselor and coach. Iron Wood is not only the best camp available for throwers, it is the best camp overall that I have been to because of the love and hard work of those who put it on. Thank you Iron Wood!!"

--Larry Johnson, former Skyline and Idaho Falls High School throws coach, member of IWT coaching staff for 20 years
"Since Iron Wood Thrower’s Camp was started with 16-18 high school throwers, many of the participants from the state of Idaho have gone on to win or place in the State championships in both men and women’s shot and discus in all five of the state classes. In addition, both the men and women’s overall state records in the shot put and discus are held by Iron Wood throwers. The camp participants also incude many throwers from all over the United States who have gone on to become successful junior college, college, and Olympic competitors. As a coach of athletes who have attended IWT over the years and who have accumulated 33 medals in men and women’s shot and discus competitions in the Idaho State championships, I highly recommend the Iron Wood Throwing Camp for both beginning and advanced throwers."

--Duncan Atwood, two time Olympian ranked third in the world, member of IWT staff for 15 years.
"Great kids, great staff and great results. I always look forward to the camp – every year I learn from the athletes and staff. It’s very rewarding to see the kids improve and the enthusiasm grow. Many thanks to all the folks who make Iron Wood possible."
